Roosevelt Neighborhood
The Roosevelt neighborhood in Bellingham is a menagerie of diverse homes and commercial spaces. Roosevelt offers residents a large array of home styles and choices—some live in renovated century-old homes, while others live in more modern duplexes or apartment communities. A gradual slope in the northern part of the neighborhood gives residents a pretty view of the city, as well as Bellingham Bay. A Light Industrial Use area varies in style and size as well, from auto dealerships to large warehouses, as well as office space.
Because Roosevelt is the most populous area of Bellingham with over 6,000 residents, extensive efforts have been made to keep the area beautiful and safe. A Boys and Girls Club operates right next to Roosevelt Park, a spacious 9-acre park with picnic areas, basketball courts, a softball field, and playground. Pacific Trails Park and Whatcom Falls Park are also great places to take a walk and relax. Along abandoned Burlington Northern rail tracks, the Railroad Trail offers cyclists and pedestrians access to nearby Bloedel-Donovan Park, another popular destination. Alabama Street, which halves the neighborhood, leads directly to beautiful Lake Whatcom.
Children in the Roosevelt neighborhood attend Roosevelt Elementary, Kulshan Middle School, and Squalicum or Bellingham High School. With modern shopping conveniences and job opportunities right next door in Barkley Village, it’s easy to see why so many people choose to make their home here.
