Bellingham in general has a limited number of city streets with designated bike lanes. For low traffic biking, there are several neighborhood, waterfront and park routes.

Gooseberry Point - (30 miles). County road trip with sweeping views of rural splendor and Mount Baker.
Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham, WA is a great place for a short scenic ride.
Washington Scenic Byway, SR 20 passes through the Central Whidbey area. The Main Highway and the scenic loops draw road cyclists from all over the Northwest. If the trails are more to your enjoyment, just North of Coupeville are the Kettles Trails and Fort Ebey State park, home to miles of trails of varied terrain.
