This is an event that will bring generations together for the good of Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center (FPFC) and the Thunderbird Aquatic Club (TAC). The money raised is for the Friends of the FPFC pool’s building fund and for TAC's competitive swimmers to attend swim meets. 2009 Pacific Challenge

The Pacific Challenge is a seamanship competition hosted on a rotating basis by seaport communities in Washington and British Columbia. Anacortes last hosted in 2000. The Pacific Challenge involves 26ft long boats and teams from Aberdeen, Anacortes, Bellingham, Olympia, Port Townsend, Tacoma, Seattle, Vashon Island and Sooke BC. This is a cultural event with kids from throughout the region racing to tie the fastest bowline, have the most accurate throw with a fifty foot heaving line, working together to get a reliable set of soundings with a lead line and bearings with a compass.
